1/3/05: Habitat for Humanity Dedication
West River Habitat for Humanity's "first home" officially became the "new home" of Frank and Linda Carona and their children Anthony, Michael, and Jillian on Novermber 14, 2004. Everyone who volunteered their time and services, as well as special guests were invited to the dedication of the house that is located at 27 Old Road Nine (Susan Lynn Lane) in West Wardsboro. Susan Houghwout facilitated the event which included a blessing of the home done by Father Wallen of Our Lady of Fatima Church. Committee members of West River Habitat as well as the women's organization LKG of the West Dover Congregational Church quilted a wall hanging that was presented to the family. Pastor Marcia Dorey was also present to support and celebrate the gathering as well as Rep. Phil Bartlett who congratulated the people who worked on the Habitat project. The ceremony was videotaped and will be shown at the West River Habitat ham and bean supper in mid January. This event will be a fundraiser for the next habitat home to be built in Whitingham.
12/15/04: West River Habitat Raffle Winners
Jennifer and Carl Nilsen of Wilmington were the lucky winners of a beautiful "Tribute" model soapstone stove that was donated by the "Friends of the Sun" of Brattleboro. Gary Goodemote, the owner was most generous in helping West River Habitat with this fundraiser.

The money raised from the raffle will be used to help build a duplex house in the Whitingham area for two Vermont families who qualify for this next habitat project. Anyone interested in more information concerning the application process for a habitat house can contact Don Gehring at 464-3792.
