HABITAT FOR HUMANITY INTERNATIONAL, INC. is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry. HFHI seeks to eliminate poverty housing in the world and to make decent shelter a matter of conscience and action. HFHI invites people of all back grounds, races and religions to build simple, affordable houses together in partnership with families in need.

WEST RIVER HABITAT FOR HUMANITY is dedicated to finding families that need a “hand up” and not a “hand out”. A family that qualifies for a Habitat house must be able to afford an interest free mortgage and must put in at least 400 “sweat equity” hours toward the building of the home. Our goal is to provide better living conditions for those who work or live in our valley and to work in partnership with those people in need.

WEST RIVER HABITAT FOR HUMANITY shares this mission with HFHI with our focus on the following 14 towns that make up or affiliate: ATHENS, BROOKLINE, DOVER, JAMAICA, LONDONDERRY, NEWFANE, READSBORO, SOMERSET, STRATTON, TOWNSEND, WARDSBORO, WHITINGHAM, WILMINGTON AND WINDHAM.
